For drummers looking for a small percussive addition to their drum kit, the DW Drums Design Series Rata Tom is an interesting choice. This model has a diameter of 6 inches and a depth of 16 inches, with depth being the determining factor for pitch and sound - a different approach to regular toms. The shell is made of 5mm thick acrylic and has a cool transparent finish, which, together with the DW shell hardware (including True-Pitch tension screws, tension edges and Design Series Mini Turret tension blocks), makes for a solid unit. The instrument is easily mounted to an L-Rod via the side tom holder, so it fits seamlessly into any drum setup. Moreover, you can combine this Rata Tom with other models in the series to play melodic percussion, such as Thomas Lang, Simon Philips, Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart.
