The coax cable is more than 100 years old, but is still being used for a very wide range of applications. Yet, most people will be familiar with the coax cable as the transporter of TV and radio signals and will recognise it as the thick, white 75-Ohm cable with an IEC plug on both ends. Coaxial cables in computer networks are always 50-Ohm versions. There are also alternative connectors, like the F connector, which is often found at the rear side of a cable modem.
