General
The Stentor SR1866Q Messina 16-inch (4/4) viola combines craftsmanship and musical potential for the advanced violist. Each instrument is handcrafted in a specially equipped workshop, where experienced craftsmen, under the guidance of a master luthier, apply traditional lutherie techniques. The top is made from carefully selected spruce, whilst the back, sides and neck are carved from beautifully flamed maple. This not only ensures a warm tone, but also an elegant appearance. The hand-applied shellac varnish and Pirastro strings underline its professional character, as does the use of ebony for the fingerboard and tuning pegs. As such, this viola delivers the kind of playing experience suited to the more serious musician.
