General

If you have ever used a clip-on microphone (also known as a lavalier microphone) during your video recordings, you will be aware of the advantage of wireless audio transfers. On stage, lavalier microphones are often used by artists who don't want to stand behind a microphone stand the whole time. The Samson Airline Micro Camera Compact wireless camera system works with a similar transmission system that wirelessly transfers audio. The transmitter and receiver of this highly complete package are small, last a long time thanks to the use of lithium-ion batteries and provide great audio quality. Its compact size makes the receiver fit for smaller camcorders and DSLR cameras. The transmission frequency of this E3 system is 864.500 MHz, for other frequencies three alternative AirLine systems are available.

Cables and devices

The main parts of the package are the AL2 transmitter and AR2 receiver, both of which are provided with a solid aluminium housing. The audio output of the AR2 receiver is a 3.5mm non-balanced connector, but with the accessory cables you can send your signals to other recorders. With a special holder, you can fasten the AR2 in the hot shoe of your camera. This package also includes an LM10 lavalier microphone, so that you can get started straight away. Besides all required cables, you will also find a charger, adapter, manual, three pop shields and a practical carrying bag in this set.

Energy consumption

The batteries of this AirLine are a great feature. However small the transmitter and receiver may be, you can use the batteries for 10 hours on end before having to recharge them with the accessory USB cables. Compared to the classic nickel-cadmium batteries, the batteries of this AirLine package are a definite improvement. The product is especially well suited for AV professionals like journalists, TV studio employees or professional camera operators.
