General

Fender's Alternative series not only includes stunning acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars, but now also this stunning electro-acoustic bass with a fantastic flamed maple top. The FA-450CE has a formidable Jumbo body with a cutaway and produces a big acoustic sound. The maple top adds extra definition, while the mahogany back and sides add more warmth to the overall tone. This flat top bass has a Graph Tech TUSQ string nut that enhances the low tones as well as the harmonics of the mids and trebles.

FA-450CE: faithful amplification and playing comfort

To ensure that the acoustic sound of the FA-450CE is faithfully amplified, it's equipped with a piezo pickup and a Fishman preamplifier that has volume, bass and treble controls. Playing comfort is assured too thanks to the modern C neck profile and the 32-inch scale length that's a little shorter than a standard electric bass. Lovely design features included the keystone rosette with matching fretboard inlays.

I give full stars here based on my limited experience with acoustic basses. First of all, this is a very attractive instrument and don't be put off by its relatively affordable mid price range. I have not tried it through an amp yet but acoustically, it has a nice rounded warm tone. I'm assuming many musicians are familiar with Fishman electronics so I'm merely pointing out its bare acoustic qualities. I find the action is well adjusted all the way up the finger board and is ready to play straight out of the box after tuning. Each player has their own preferences and tastes and personally I think I made a good choice based on other reviews. I've never been comfortable buying any instrument without first trying it out but with a name like Fender behind it, one can reasonably expect a treat so here's one in the Fender FA-450CE and at a real competitive price. Sorry I can't elaborate on the electronics side and I've never written a guitar review before but I hope this helps anyone considering this model. Kudos to Fender in creating something well worth every penny that looks and plays like a dream.

Mooi instrument. Fijn vol geluid. Had al eerder dezelfde basgitaar maar die was bij een ongeluk gebroken. Heb daarna een ander merk geprobeerd, maar dat geluid was "ketserig" Ben weer terug gegaan naar oude vertrouwde geluid en ben er heel blij mee.

Finition superbe , song en acoustique bon et accompagner d'une guitare ca passe aussi une plaisir de faire un buff avec un ami , fin sauf bien-sur si la guitare attaque la mieux vaut passer sur amply . et justement en amply le song et très propre avec les corde de basse , avoir avec d'autres mais je m'en fais pas vue la bonne facture de cette très jolie basse . et bien-sur livraison rapide bien emballer . Bref un classique vue que pas la premier fois que je commande sur le site . Merci a vous .
