With the Fender Pugilist Distortion V2, you can add two distinct distortion characters to your pedalboard in a single effects pedal. Engine A delivers a clear, treble-rich drive for lead parts, whilst Engine B provides a thicker, heavier distortion. Both circuits have their own Gain, Tone and Level controls, allowing you to adjust the amount of distortion, tone and volume separately. Each engine also has its own footswitch. So you can choose when to use which distortion, without having to constantly fiddle with the knobs. From a distinct lead sound to a solid wall of distortion: you have two separately adjustable sounds at your feet.

Stack or blend: it’s up to you

The Path switch turns these two distortion circuits into more than just two separate effects in the same unit. In the two serial modes, you feed one circuit through the other, choosing the order yourself. This allows you to stack the distortion and use the footswitches to switch to the next gain stage, much like switching between amp channels. Prefer to use both characters side by side? In the parallel mode, the engines run simultaneously and you can use their Level controls to adjust the balance between them. With the global Bass Boost and Mid Cut switches, you can then add extra bass or reduce the emphasis in the midrange to shape the final sound.

Practical for your pedalboard

The controls and connections have also been designed with your pedalboard in mind. The connections are located on the top, and the aluminium casing is built for use on the go. On the rear panel, you can choose between true bypass and buffered bypass. If the power supply fails, the relay-controlled automatic bypass ensures that the pedal is bypassed. With the Multiswitch function, you can use the footswitches in both latching and momentary modes: tap briefly to switch, or hold down for temporary activation. For power, use a 9V mains adaptor with a centre-negative barrel connector measuring 5.5 x 2.1 millimetres. This adaptor is not included; the current draw is 80 milliamps.
