If you think Sigma Guitars DM-15 acoustic guitar looks like the similarly-named model by Martin Guitars, you'd be right! It doesn't just look similar, however, the sound is similar too! In fact, the biggest difference you'll find is in the price. Even though it's a lot cheaper than its more illustrious counterpart, it still boasts top-quality components like Grover machine heads and a bridge saddle and string nut made of real bone.

Warm sound and plenty of volume

The DM-15 has a solid mahogany top with the back, sides and neck all being made of mahogany too. This gives it a warm sound that never becomes too bright, making it ideal for playing techniques that produce more trebles, like slide guitar, for instance. As you'd expect from a dreadnought, the DM-15 produces plenty of volume with the solid top ensuring excellent projection and resonance. This model also has a finish that belies its price.

Sigma Guitars

In the 1970s, Martin Guitars launched a series of attractively-priced models under the name Sigma Guitars in order to compete with the growing number of cheaper models being produced in the Far East. Unfortunately, they stopped producing them in 2007 but a German company breathed new life into the name in 2011. With Martin Guitars' blessing, these models are now made in China. They're subject to strict quality controls and everything from the way they're made to the design of the headstock do the original models justice. In short, these acoustic guitars offer the same excellent value for money as the original models did. In the USA, these models are distributed by Martin under the name Kindred Guitars because they no longer hold rights to the Sigma Guitars name.

Ik heb hem gekocht als mijn eerste western gitaar. Het is een hele fijne gitaar gitaar, met een warme en volle sound. Alleen toen ik hem net een twee dagen had brak de hoge E-snaar, toch zijn het wel hele fijne snaren die er origineel opzitten. Die snaren kan je ook Bax kopen. Alles bij elkaar een hele goede, mooie gitaar.
