General
Dripping with classic style, the 'slope shoulder' JM-SG45 by Sigma Guitars packs convincing looks and a rich-and-dynamic sound to match - courtesy of a solid Sika spruce soundboard and a mahogany body. The neck, also made of mahogany, offers a comfy feel and is relatively short which makes bending notes into blues solos much easier. The hardware - including a bone nut and saddle - boasts the same high-grade quality while the electronics encompass a Fishman Sonitone pickup and preamp system to guarantee a clean amplified acoustic sound. So it can be taken to gigs (or lessons) right away, every JM-SG45 comes complete with a purpose-made SSC-D gig bag.

Voor het geld een prima gitaar: goede bespeelbaarheid en een mooie klank. Wat me echt tegenviel: de piezo en de Fishman preamp. De klank is mij veel te kunstmatig en batterij-wissel kan niet zonder de snaren te verwijderen. Ik heb de preamp daarom verwijderd en gebruik nu een magnetisch DeArmond ToneBoss klankgatelement en daarmee ben ik zeer tevreden!
Kleine kanttekening bij de gitaar: je merkt echt dat de dynamiek een bovengrens heeft. Op een gegeven moment resulteert harder aanslaan niet in meer volume. Maar in deze prijsklasse is dat ergens ook wel te verwachten. Al met al toch een hele goede gitaar en een mooi low budget alternatief voor een J45.
