ENGL E653: tube power

This 50W tube head is equipped with two EL34 power amp tubes, which produce a highly distinctive sound that is best described as bell-like. What's more, these tubes offer plenty of rich overtones, and with their relatively modest power, they're easy to overdrive, giving you a rich tube sound much sooner. The E653's preamp is powered by four ECC83, or 12AX7 tubes. This are very popular, and they'll give you that famous, familiar tube sound. Combining the EL34 and ECC83 tubes allows the Artist Edition 50 Vintage Style to give you a high-quality tube sound that will put a smile on any guitarist's face.

Simple but well-equipped

Its two channels (clean and lead) each have a gain control and share a 3-band EQ (bass, mid, treble). The lead channel has its own volume control and both channels share a presence knob. To further fine-tune your sound, you'll find bright, gain and shape switches. Furthermore, the E653 has two master volumes, one rhythm and one solo volume. There's also an effects loop that can be used both parallel and in series, so that you can hook up all your favourite effects pedals. Of course, you'll want your guitar signal to be as clean as possible, without any unwanted noise or feedback. To achieve this, the E653 has a built-in noise gate with a threshold knob on the back.
