Product information
General
Remarkable guitarist Steve Morse from Deep Purple, worked closely with ENGL for over a year to develop the ultimate guitar amplifier. The result is the ENGL E656 Steve Morse Signature Head. This 100-Watt tube amp head is based on the popular Invader 100 but channels 3 and 4 have been combined to form one lead channel with a comprehensive mid-range section for maximum flexibility. The E656 offers various options for influencing your sound, all of which van be operated and stored via MIDI. This amp head comes in Steve's favourite colour: blue!
ENGL E656 Steve Morse Signature: An Eye-Watering Range of Sounds
Channels 1 and 2 are for Clean and Crunch respectively, each with its own gain, bass, middle, treble and volume controls so you can go from a crystal clear to a bluesy crunch with the twist of a knob. The third channel features enough gain to handle any heavy, modern style. Steve knows like no other that mid frequencies are essential for guitarists, which is why this channel was given a more comprehensive tone control with two switchable Lo-Mid and Hi-Mid controls as well as gain, bass and treble.
Extra Options and MIDI Functionality
The Tone control is a special voicing option to add sparkle to the clean channel, scoop to the crunch, and subtly influences the frequency range of the mids in channel three. What's more, there's a Hi-Gain option that gives each channel a Gain boost. The Clean channel gets an extra edge, Crunch gets heavy distortion, providing the Lead channel with the perfect mix for metal and shredding solos.
