EVH's 5150IIIS 100S EL34 is an extremely popular amplifier among guitarists but now there's a 50 Watt version too. The 5150III 50W EL34 has the same great black and gold look and British sound. With 50 watts of power on board, it's easier to turn up the controls on this tube guitar amp head and enjoy its wonderfully saturated sounds without making your ears bleed! The first channel offers a sparkling, well-balanced clean tone, while channels two and three offer a darker sound with more saturation and compression. You can tweak sounds to your heart's content using the comprehensive chicken head controls. The 5150III 50W tube amp head comes complete with an EVH footswitch with four buttons.

Just like the 100S, this amp head is equipped with matched EL34 power amp tubes with 12AX7 tubes in the preamp. This setup is the same that Eddie van Halen used in his early days for his Brown Sound. Whether you want to play van Halen classics or songs from any other rock band, this amp head's tubes, effects loop and on-board controls means you'll be able to conjure up the perfect sound.

Il se rapproche du son d'Eddy de ses premiers albums (et des suivants avec le canal rouge) Son clair: très fenderien, avec reverbe, chorus....super. Deuxième canal (crunch, bleu) très Marshall va jusqu'à des grosses saturations (pour ma part le gain à midi)les potentiomètres bass, medium et treble sont communs aux deux premiers canaux (clair et crunch) gain et volume ensembles pour les canaux précités (attention les gros doigts, en bougeant un on bouge l'autre) le problème des premiers EVH qui avaient des nivaux sonores très différents est donc supprimé. le troisième canal (rouge) est à haut gain, même du gain à revendre, parfait pour tous les styles à "gros sons" Perso je l'utilise avec peu de gain mais plus de volume pour les chorus. Bouton de présence commun aux trois canaux. A l'arrière un bouton de résonnance (ajout de basses, suivant les HP que l'on utilise. Deux sorties HP avec toutes les possibilités connues (16, 8 et 4 ohms), boucles d'effets, entrée footswicht (fournie, canaux et effets) sortie casque (qui coupe le HP) ??? pas très utile pour ce genre d'ampli, le standby et l'allumage (à l'arrière mais on s'y fait très vite) Le son est génial et facile à trouver. Le caractère Marshall est bien là (j'en ai possédé quelques uns) Pas trop lourd, bien conçu. 50 watts à lampes ça fait du bruit. Pas trop de souffle (pas du tout sur les deux premiers canaux, à condition de ne pas mettre le gain à fond) un peu plus sur le troisième, mais celui là c'est l'enfer sur terre Très bon ampli, professionnel et solide, bien fini, pour celui qui aime le son Marshall et le Brown Sound d'Eddy.
