Do you want larger-than-life British amp sounds on stage or in the studio? Then this Laney Ironheart IRT-Studio tube amp rack mount is just the thing! It measures 2U, fits in a 19-inch rack, and features a USB output so you can connect it directly to your DAW. It has a single mono jack output with switchable impedance (8/16 ohms), which is great in combination with an Ironheart speaker cabinet like the IR212, for instance. The IRT-Studio's three channels, Rhythm, Lead and Clean, help you create a broad palette of sounds that range from heavy metal to sparkling clean. This modern-looking Laney IRT-Studio tube amp head is your ideal stage/studio companion.
Laney Ironheart IRT-Studio: potentiometers and sound options
The Ironheart's bass, middle and treble are called Deep, Mid Shift and Treble Shift, respectively, and you can use them to tweak your sound to perfection. The potentiometers in the master section give you complete control, and the rotary Dynamics knob allows you to monitor the interaction between the amp and the speakers, while the Tone control gives you a firm grip of the overall tonal character of your sound. Using the mono jack inputs, you can switch between <1 watt and 15 watts of power and a specially-designed reverb enables you to add some atmospheric vibes to your sound.
Extra features of the IRT-Studio
Using the included FS4-IRT foot pedal, you can switch between the three separate channels. It's also possible to use a Pre-Boost, which delivers that little bit extra when you go from a rhythm to a solo guitar part. The Ironheart amp rack mount also has an effects loop with adjustable levels for your favourite stomp boxes and multi-effects. The IRT-Studio comes complete with rack wings for mounting in a 19-inch rack.

Fijne indeling van de instellingen (en dat zijn er veel) - bedacht door een gebruiker en geen techneut.
Wil je hem gebruiken met veel vermogen? Zet er een andere versterker achter (of naast, dat kan ook). Je hebt dan dan nog steeds de mogelijkheden en sound van het ding zelf !! Wow !!
Enige kritiekpuntje is de bias instelling van de eindbuizen - die is wat "koud" en kan beter, levert wat strakker bas en andere headroom (buizen leven dan wel korter, maar so-what).
[En het is een grote bak :) ]

Met wat eq en de goede speakerkast kan dit versterkertje alle stijlen aan. En dat voor 500 euro. Ik heb recentelijk een tweede besteld.

De amp heeft zeer veel mogelijkheden . De drie kanalen die te bedienen zijn met de bijgeleverde footswitch kun je alle kanten op. Er zit een mooi helder clean geluid in, alleen hoor je wel wat buizen oversturing als de volumeknop hoger staat dan 7. Het rhythm kanaal (gedeelde eq met clean) heeft genoeg gain/overdrive voor rock e.d. Maar de krach van deze versterker zit toch wel in het lead kanaal. De vetste metalsound is binnen een hand omdraai te bereiken. Deze klinkt naar mijn mening echt stoer zonder schel of ondefinieerbaar te worden.
Beide equalizers hebben push/pull optie. Hierdoor is er een groot scala aan variatie te creëren voor je ideale sound!
De digitale reverb is oké, klinkt organisch maar is niet heel geweldig. Ik gebruik toch liever een extern pedaal.
Aan de achterkant zijn er ook een hoop opties te vinden. De effectloop is goed. Ik lus mijn pedalboard erdoorheen en klinkt netjes. Koptelefoon uitgang is wel wat aan de zachte kant. Daar naast nog DI en USB maken het plaatje wel compleet. DI gebruik ik voor opnames en die klinken zeer goed (ook met de speakeremulatie aan)
Ik gebruik edeze amp zowel thuis als in van band verband. Moet wel zeggen dat in band verband het cleane kanaal wat weinig headroom heeft. Ik heb er daarom voor gekozen om er een eindversterker tussen te zetten en alles zit nu netjes in een 19 inch rack.
Kortom een zeer veelzijdige en kwalitatief goed amp. Vooral in thuis/studio setting zeer goed . In band setting iets minder door wat te weinig headroom op clean. Andere kanalen hebben hier trouwens geen last van.
