Marshall SC20H Studio Classic JCM800 2203 tube guitar amplifier head, 20 W
I bought this amp to play at home and I'm very happy with it. It delivers the authentic JCM 800 tone in a smaller form factor and at lower volume levels. Having said that, you still need to turn it up quite high to get the best sounds out of it. The 5 watt mode only knocks off a few db's, so if you need to play this at bedroom levels, a high quality attenuator is a must! I'm using a Rivera RockCrusher which allows me to attenuate the volume down to whisper quiet levels with very minimal (if any) loss of tone. The high input gives you that classic crunch marshall tone, but you can boost or push this with pedals (BOSS SD-1 works great with this amp) to turn it into a metal monster. The low input can generate really nice clean tones and works as a great pedal platform, but if you crank the volume and gain you can take the tone into Plexi territory. Overall it's a very versatile amp and one I can see myself owning for a long time.
Bax Music offered the item for a really good price and shipped it from Europe in a timely fashion. The box was damaged (had a number of holes in the outside) when it arrived, but that's most likely due to the handling by one of the couriers involved. Thankfully, Marshall package their amps really well and there was plenty of protective materials inside to prevent damage to the amp inside. This is the second amp I have bought from Bax Music (the first one was delivered fine without the packaging being damaged) and I would use them again in future.
