Devine D-400 2x 200W (8-Ohm) Class-D Amplifier

Thanks to modern technology, amplifiers are only ever becoming smaller and smaller in size. The compact Devine D-400 is a great example: it takes up just a single unit of rack space, but delivers a power of 2x 360 Watts at 4 Ohms. Set it to bridge mode and it’s even capable of producing 720 Watts at 8 Ohms. The D-400 weighs in at only 3.2kg, so you won’t break your back carrying it. Thanks to its considerable power and compact dimensions, the amp is ideal for rental companies that still work with large racks. It’s also great for fixed installations, because it only takes up a little bit of space.

The Devine D-400: Class-D Amplification

As opposed to conventional amplifiers - which are usually fitted with large, hefty transformers - the Devine D-400 is equipped with a switching power supply. When the amplifier requires more power, the power supply simply steps it up a notch, and switches back just as easily. A switched-mode power supply has a lower weight and smaller size than a linear supply, which is why the D-400 is so compact and lightweight. Round the back of the unit, you'll find the inputs and outputs. There are both jack and XLR inputs for each channel, as well as three pairs of locking speaker outputs, the middle of which can be used for a bridged set-up.
