However, if you're just starting out, or if you're on a budget, then this set of Devine MR-5A active studio monitors is a great alternative. These monitors are engineered specifically for mixing and have a frequency range of 70 Hz to 20 kHz, which means they're suitable for less demanding music productions and smaller studio spaces. A handy feature of the MR-5A monitors is that they have soft-start and shut-down, which means they won't make that annoying 'popping' sound when turned on or off.

Met mijn achtergrond in geluidstechniek, ben ik eigenlijk nooit tevreden met de standaard speakers in mijn televisie. Daarom heb ik in plaats daarvan deze set gekocht, en ik ben er nu na 2 weken dagelijks gebruik nog steeds hartstikke tevreden over. De set is een low budget oplossing, laat daar geen twijfel over zijn, maar tjonge wat krijg je veel voor het geld! Allereerst gaat het hard zat. De versterkers zijn erg eenvoudig uitgevoerd, input kan gebalanceerd of niet, verder een volumeregeling, voeding en natuurlijk een aan/uit schakelaar, that's it, en da's helemaal prima zo. Elke speaker heeft zn eigen versterker, dus geen master slave onzin. Ze hebben geen merkbare ruis of ander ongewenste bijgeluiden. Ze zien er goed uit, maar eerlijk is eerlijk, dit is waar je wel duidelijk kunt zien dat het budget speakers zijn. De witte randjes tussen de 5" basspeaker en de tweeter hebben licht kleurverschil. Ze hebben een eenvoudige geplakte vinyl achtige coating. En de witte powerleds aan de voorkant zijn eigenlijk te fel. Nu stoort me dat allemaal weinig. Over die ledjes zit nu een geel doorzichtig stickertje, en voor de rest gaat het me vooral om het geluid. Fris uit de doos klonken ze wat plat, weinig karakter of dynamiek. Maar na 2 weken met ook regelmatig muziek zijn ze mooi ingelopen en daarmee helemaal tot leven gekomen. Ik heb over de jaren al 6 verschillende sets actieve studiomonitoren versleten in de homestudio, en bij de TV, dus ik weet inmiddels aardig goed wat werkt en wat niet. En deze Devine's werken en klinken gewoon prima. Tot slot was de service van BAX ook dik in orde, vandaag besteld, morgen in huis, helemaal top!
