Roland Rubix44 USB audio interface

I have had a number of audio interfaces, the latest also being Roland, but this one covers all the features you could ever need for home recording and streaming of multiple instruments .The build quality is excellent and the sound is exceptionally clear in reproducing your instrument - no hiss or hum. I particularly love the compressor/limiter feature which is missing from so many of the alternatives. It’s also very intuitive to use and compact for the technology packed is inside. The last Roland audio interface kept me going for 10 years, I’m looking forward to 10+ more with this great piece of kit!

Slechtste aankoop ooit!!! Het is op het eerste oog een prima apparaat hoor en hij klinkt prima maar hij heeft een paar hele grote nadelen!
- Dit is mijn grootste ergernis!!!!! Hij kan maar 1 audiobron tegelijkertijd aan.. heb je bijvoorbeeld je DAW (in mijn geval Cubase) open.. dan heb je verder geen geluid meer op je computer want alles wordt uitgeschakeld. Dus je kan geen youtube of even een muziekstuk afluisteren of wat dan ook.
- Je kan niet handmatig de samplerate instellen, hij stelt zichzelf automatisch in op het project waar je in werkt. Is de samplerate verkeerd en wil je dit aanpassen dan kan dit niet meer.
- Instellen van de buffer is onduidelijk.. je hebt stand 1 - 6 maar het is totaal niet duidelijk wat wat is.
- Het is niet mogelijk om de configuratie van bijvoorbeeld de inputs/outputs aan te passen.

Al met al de meest nutteloze 300 euro die ik ooit uit gegeven heb.. ik vind het apparaat het niet eens waard om door te verkopen dus heb het zo bij het vuilnis geflikkerd.

- De (optionele) compressors op de ingangen zijn een welkome optie. Hoewel ze beperkt instelbaar zijn, klinken ze erg transparant en daarom erg bruikbaar tijdens opname.
- Uitstekende direct-monitoring sectie, wat voor mij een must was.

Negatief:
- De volume regelaars (output en hoofdtelefoon) zijn bij mij binnen een paar weken bijgeluiden gaan geven (gekraak bij bediening). Niet een heel groot probleem en redelijk simpel te verhelpen (en daarna niet meer terug gekomen), maar wel jammer dat zoiets nodig was.
- Ik heb een probleem gehad met een paar connectors aan de achterzijde (USB, MIDI) die slecht contact maakte. Ik heb daarvoor het apparaat open moeten maken en de connectors opnieuw moeten solderen. En dat terwijl bij mij de interface eigenlijk nooit van plaats verandert. Erg jammer.
- De koptelefoon uitgang is wellicht iets aan de zwakke kant als je koptelefoons met een hoge impedantie gebruikt. Voor de meeste koptelefoons is dit totaal geen probleem, maar je zou in sommige gevallen een losse koptelefoonversterker nodig kunnen hebben. Maar dit geldt voor de meeste audio interfaces denk ik.

Conclusie:
Een erg compleet product wat solide aanvoelt en uitstekend klinkt voor een in verhouding bescheiden prijskaartje. Maar hoewel het allemaal erg solide aanvoelt, blijken er toch wat betrouwbaarheids issues te zijn (in ieder geval bij mij). Blijkbaar zijn er hier en daar wat shortcuts genomen.

Wellicht had ik pech met mijn exemplaar, en na mijn reparatie heeft dit apparaat mij nooit meer laten afweten (ik denk dat ik deze interface nu zo'n 3,5 jaar gebruik).
Als ik die problemen niet gehad zou hebben, zou ik deze interface een dikke 5 sterren geven. Maar als ik niet met een soldeerbout kon omgaan en de problemen niet redelijk eenvoudig zelf kon oplossen was ik waarschijnlijk minder genereus met mijn 4 sterren.

Fijne USB interface om de 4 uitgangen van de Nord Stage 2 EX op te nemen (piano gescheiden van de rest).
Zeker voor de prijs een aanrader.
Compact en degelijk. Ik heb de 24 al 2 jaar en die bevalt nog steeds goed.
Toch een upgrade gedaan naar de 44, vanwege de 4 ingangen.

Prettig om compressie toe te kunnen passen voordat het signaal verder gaat.
Directe monitor mix is fijn om op te nemen zonder latency.
Koptelefoon versterker is goed.
Totaal geen ruis in de opnames.
Ik gebruik hem voor Reaper en Propellerheads Reason. Beide werken goed met de Roland ASIO driver (Windows 10).
Ook handig dat er 4 uitgangen op zitten om (bijvoorbeeld) een clicktrack op een ander kanaal te krijgen dan het overige geluid. (zodat je die alleen op de oortjes kunt krijgen)
Minpunt(je) is misschien dat de aansluitingen vooraan zitten. Dat is handig als je veel wisselt, maar als je een redelijk vaste opstelling hebt, neemt dat onnodig veel ruimte in beslag EN ziet het er iets minder netjes uit.
