General
If you're in the market for a mixer that's easy to use, lightweight, built to last and suitable for use in the studio, the rehearsal room or during live shows, then the Presonus StudioLive AR16 USB is what you're after. On the rear, there are eighteen inputs, twelve of which are XLR/jack combo mono inputs, and four remaining stereo line inputs (channels 9/10 - 15/16). The first two inputs can be used directly for guitars, for instance, and there's an insert option for connecting external effects.
Take your show home with you
One of the coolest features about the AR16 is that you can record your performances with it. It comes complete with a free download of Capture recording software and Studio One 3 Artist DAW, so all you need is a laptop to connect the AR16 to using the included USB cable, and you can record all channels including the master mix. Want to travel light? Take along an SD card instead of your computer and record everything directly onto it (you can only record the master mix this way however).
Create your set-up
Each channel on the Presonus can be adjusted any way you like. The first eight mono channels have 4-band EQ while the stereo channels have 3-band EQ. They all have a low cut, mute and monitoring options. What's more, you can connect an external effects processor and two monitor groups per input and adjust each one, as well as the main volume level, separately. Another feature is the Super Channel, which consists of an RCA, AUX and Bluetooth connection so you can pair your smartphone or connect a karaoke machine, for example.

Ik gebruik het zowel voor optredens als voor gelijktijdig opnemen om nadien te herbeluisteren.
Ben nog volop alle mogelijkheden aan het ontdekken, feedback ervan volgt nog.
En natuurlijk zoals gewoonlijk de fijne stipte levering van Bax.

+ De mixer is simpel in gebruik, super handig voor de minder ervaren geluidstechnici;
+ Opnemen van bijv. toespraken of muziek KAN NIET SIMPELER;
+ Genoeg kanalen voor iets grotere bands;
+ Het is natuurlijk niet topsegment, maar alles op de mixer voelt stevig aan;
+ 4-knops equalizing geeft goede precisie bij verschillende instrumenten/stemmen;
- De gaininstelling per kanaal kan niet 'solo' worden weergegeven in de visuele volumeindicator, dit kan alleen met een enkel LED-lampje bij elke gain-draaiknop.
Alles bij elkaar een aanrader, zeker wat betreft de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Nu nog wat jaartjes volhouden!

Pluspunten:
-pas perfect op de aangeschafte Samson SRK-8 universeel rack
-Neemt 16 sporen tegelijk op als de usb audio interface in studio one.
-Ik hou genoeg sporen over voor een 5 track voor drums opname.
-Ieder kanaal zijn eigen fader en gain knop.
-Met de gain knop kun je nauwkeurig het signaal instellen voordat je graag opnemen, dit voorkomt vervelende clipping.
-de 16 effecten vallen mij niet tegen.
-Met oefenen gebruiken wij de effecten maar bij opnames gebruik ik andere effecten om de audio te bewerken.
-Bluetooth
-Sd kaart voor stereo recording, werkt perfect zo kun je snel het resultaat beluisteren.
Minpunten:
-Fader knoppen voelen goedkoop aan, maar voor die prijs een 16 multi track recorder die zo lekker werkt en in goede kwaliteit opneemt in stoor ik mijn daar niet aan.
Kortom een top product voor in een home studio , gewoon 5 sterren waard.
