This stunning variable-MU compressor doesn't just work magic on the master bus, but on individual instruments, resulting in a solid and intensely versatile investment. During the recording stage, you could stick the bass through channel 1 and the vocals through channel 2, and during the mixing and mastering stage, you can stick the whole mix bus through. The channels can be linked to complete a stable stereo image, and since all of the controls are 'stepped', the left and right channels are easily and accurately matched. The sound of this compressor lies close to that of the Fairchild 660 and Gates STA-Level, but departs from the dinosaurs by offering a generous handful of more modern options, including a side-chain filter and independently adjustable attack and release.
