It’s the remote-cutoff tube compression that half the mastering world has relied on for decades. The Nu Mu isn’t a replacement for it. It’s the version you go for if you want that T-Bar-modded tube input stage, but with a discrete solid-state output stage underneath; faster, tighter, more transparent, without losing the Variable Mu signature. That’s the crux of it: tube where it counts (gain reduction, harmonic colour), solid-state where speed counts (transients, bandwidth). Two worlds that are normally at odds with each other, here in series! This isn’t a unit for someone looking for ‘just a bit of compression’. It’s for the stereo mix bus where you want glue and density without killing the dynamics, for drums and bass where you want that variable-mu warmth with the punch that only solid-state can deliver.
