General
You’ve known for ages what makes a good preamp. You’ve had the discussions, done the shootouts, and tried out all sorts of plug-in emulations in your search for something that simply can’t be captured in code. So let’s keep it short! The Force is Manley’s four-channel tube preamp, derived directly from the award-winning CORE channel strip. Four 12AX7 dual triodes, each coupled to a hand-wound Manley IRON input transformer. Class-A, high-voltage, no compromises. Manley’s philosophy is simple and has now become a cliché in the best sense of the word: high voltage gives high headroom; high headroom gives high fidelity. This is not an entry-level model, nor is it intended to be one. It is the front-end for sessions where four channels really do need to be four – drums, live ensembles, strings – without compromising on character or headroom.
