One criticism, which is why they only get 4 stars from me, is that if you turn the mains off before switching the speakers off individually, then there’s a massive bang from the speakers. I don’t know if it’s bad enough to cause damage, but this simply should not happen and is a design flaw. I cannot be the only one to power my studio from a single mains switch.

I bought these to replace some older JBL 5” monitors which were developing case vibrations due to age. Strangely, I was delighted that the Adams sound very similar to the JBLs - as one would expect from studio monitors. Yes the ribbon tweeters add clarity on instruments like violins, but overall I would say they’re almost indistinguishable from the JBLs. I am very happy with them but I hope that the next generation sort-out the dreadful transient when the mains is switched off as that’s an unforgivable flaw.
