As the more extensive version in the series, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17 offers quite a lot in return for your hard-earned cash. First of all, there's Sound Forge Audio Studio 14 (a virtual audio-based Swiss army knife), then there's motion-tracking and VST support, the latter of which allows you to work with an entire universe of effects in addition to the effects already built into the software. While it obviously can't compete with Vegas Pro in terms of potential, Vegas Movie Studio features an equally intuitive interface and offers ample options to turn raw digital footage into slick promo films, vacation videos, baby's-first-steps-videos...you name it!
