In the Box Mixing
Mixing 'inside the box' comes with a stack of benefits. Mix revisions don't eat up an hour of re-adjusting faders, settings and controls, and plugins are much cheaper than their hardware-based counterparts. The only thing that's missing is the intuitive feel of a real mixing console, but that's where the Solid State Logic UC1 comes in. If you never want to get through another mixing sessions using a mouse, simply team it up with the SSL UF8 (not included) to complete the 'big console' experience and your own SSL-360 system. This plugin controller comes complete with software licenses for Native Channel Strip and SSL Bus Compressor.

De UF-8 is mijn volgende aankoop.
SSL UC1 bouwt voort op het succes van de UF8 USB DAW-controller die is gepubliceerd door Solid State Logic en biedt u opnieuw een speciale hardwarecontroller voor plug-ins. In dit geval zijn dit de in-house Channel Strip 2 en Bus Compressor 2. Beide plug-ins zijn bij de levering inbegrepen. Hoeveel aandacht de fabrikant besteedt aan de details van de mixerlay-out is vrij opmerkelijk. LED-niveau, LED-ringen rond de encoder, een VU-meter voor het weergeven van de versterkingsreductie van de compressor. Dat ziet er mooi uit en SSL zorgt ervoor dat de knoppen, potmeters en schakelaars ook op consoleniveau worden verwerkt. De kast is gemaakt van metaal en heeft een brushed look.
Voor elke functie is er een “knop” zodat je spiergeheugen kan overschakelen naar een razendsnelle workflow. Een extra ingebouwd display geeft u altijd informatie over welke plug-in momenteel voor welke track zorgt en hoe de parameters eruit zien. U kunt de plug-in-presets ook rechtstreeks met de controller beheren. Je kunt ook snel schakelen tussen maximaal drie verschillende DAW's. Met de nieuwe SSL 360° plug-in mixersoftware voor Windows en macOS kun je alles vanaf het scherm bedienen en configureren.
Overigens sluit je de controller via USB aan op de computer. Kabels voor USB CC en USB CA worden meegeleverd. De leveringsomvang omvat naast de voeding ook steunen voor het wijzigen van de montagehoek.
De Channel Strip 2-plug-in vertegenwoordigt digitale modellering van de EQ's en dynamische afdeling van de XL 9000 K SuperAnalogue-console. De V2-versie maakt functies zoals sidechaining mogelijk. Bus Compressor 2 breidt de functies uit met extra opties voor ratio, attack en release, biedt ook sidechaining en tot viervoudige oversampling.

Ik merk aan mezelf dat ik echt anders ga mixen door direct aan knoppen te draaien ipv een muis. Ik ben ook in het bezit van de Softube Console 1 maar die werkt echt niet zo fijn als de SSL UC1.
De build-quality is top en de kwaliteit van de plug ins is ook super! De kans dat SSL in de nabije toekomst met meerdere Channelstrips (plug ins) gaat komen die werken met de SSL UC1 is zeer groot.
Het is een professioneel apparaat met eenzelfde prijskaartje. Toch kan ik het iedereen aanraden.
