General

The DSM & Humboldt Sub Atomic Preamp is a fully analogue two-channel preamp designed for bassists looking for a brutal, defined sound. Thanks to the clever combination of successive CMOS stages and parallel signal processing, low frequencies remain natural and powerful, even with heavy distortion. This makes the Subatomic perfect for those who want their bass sound raw and aggressive, without compromising definition. For added convenience, the Sub Atomic also features a headphone output with an AUX input for silent practice sessions, and two TS outputs with loop-through and cabinet-simulation capabilities.

Sub Atomic: two channels

The clean channel adds warmth and subtle compression to your tone, with a character reminiscent of classic tube amplification. The drive side of the pedal delivers a particularly fierce distortion with an adjustable clean blend, always keeping control over your sound. Both channels use a shared passive three-band EQ, allowing you to create an impressive range of timbres.

Complete with cab sim and FX loop

In addition, the Sub Atomic is equipped with an XLR DI output including switchable analogue cabinet simulation of an impressive 8x10 cabinet, ideal for direct use on stage or in the studio. The built-in FX loop allows you to add effects into your signal chain after the drive section, without the need for an additional DI box. The pre-FX-loop is flexible and can be assigned to the preamp, the parallel chain or both at the same time. This allows you to use different effects on each signal path without splitters or extra cabling. The XLR outputs are divided into main and parallel output, allowing you to output the signal separately to, for example, a second channel, a subwoofer or a recording interface.
