General

Officially it's not, but this Sabian AAX X-Plosion Ride 21-inch can really be called a crash-ride. And where peers can often only do one or the other, this cymbal feels at home in both roles. Played on the blade, it is a fine, light ride with a somewhat sweet sound. It has a subtle, bright wash. This one is not overpowering, so you can hear every quick patter back. The bell is full and bright. It is also larger than average, so you can also use the ride well as a crash. Because of the size of the cymbal, it is definitely a solid crash that cannot be used in a small setting, but if you can go a bit further out, it is ideal for going that extra mile. In the process, it doesn't feel stiff like you're used to from some other rides.
