General

This Beetronics pedal straddles the full spectrum between overdrive and fuzz. Blend them up to create a heady brew that can be liberally applied to your guitar, bass or even your synth sound. Mould and shape the output of The Royal Jelly by dialling in the King and Queen pots, which dictate the mix of your two parallel distortion circuits, before adjusting the global gain level via the central Honey pot and, via the Mode footswitch, toggling between the King and Queen settings or brutally mashing them together.

The Beetronics Royal Jelly: Buzzing Fuzz

Doing way more than just dipping your sound in ultra-sweet and ultra-variable distortion, this Beetronics offering hands you full control over the tone. Use the Lo and Hi pots to strengthen or weaken the 80 Hertz and 2 kilohertz frequency ranges within a 10 decibel range both ways, and set the balance between the clean and wet sound via the Dry pot to retain the definition and low-end of your original tone. This detail alone is what makes this stompbox just as impressive when hooked up to bass guitars, synthesizers and even drum machines. If the trebles could do with sharpening up a little bit, then simply hit the central Buzz footswitch and give your distortion some extra sting. When switched off, this pedal retains your pure and clean sound, thanks to the true-bypass design.

Très belle pédale, un peu trop grande par contre.
L'idée de mixer overdrive et fuzz est intéressante. Dans les faits, je mets un canal 100% overdrive et l'autre 70%fuzz.
Je n'ai pas trop utilisé le dry (sûrement très utile avec une basse, d'ailleurs ça fonctionne très bien avec une basse)
Fuzz et overdrive sonnent très 70's, c'est très agréable. L'overdrive est "granuleux".
Pas de réglage pour la fuzz mais la couleur est bien (un poil sombre si on est pointilleux).
Le footswitch centrale amène de l'aigue sur la fuzz. Intéressant mais pas renversant, j'aurai aimé une fonction plus utile.

La Royal Jelly est une pédale idéale si vous cherchez un son épais, fuzzy et vivant. C’est une pédale de texture et de personnalité, différente d’une overdrive traditionnelle. Elle apporte une couleur unique à mon setup, que ni la Protein, ni la Friedman Be-OD ne peuvent reproduire. Je l’utilise ponctuellement pour ajouter ce caractère singulier, pas comme mon overdrive principal. Si vous souhaitez un son plus clair ou précis, la Royal Jelly n’est pas le bon choix. En revanche, si vous recherchez une pédale inspirante au grain organique, c’est une option très haut de gamme et créative.

The Royal Jelly is a great pedal if you’re after a thick, fuzzy, and lively tone. It’s a texture and character pedal—not your typical overdrive. It brings a unique color to my setup that neither my Protein nor my Friedman Be-OD can provide. I use it occasionally to add this special vibe, not as my main overdrive. If you’re looking to clean up your rig or add clarity, the Royal Jelly isn’t the answer. But if you want an inspiring pedal with organic grit, it remains a high-end and creative choice.

Wat een pedaal! Een crunchy overdrive en een enorm heldere Fuzz. Je zet hem aan en het klinkt gelijk te gek. Vooral voor bas is de helderheid in de sound heel fijn. Je verliest bijna geen low end en zo wel, dan draai je het erbij. Hij maakt ook amper noise! Het kost wat, maar dan heb je ook echt wat.
