Marshall DSL1CR 1x8" Tube Combo Amp
This amp is absolutely perfect for playing at home but dont think its just some cheap practise amp. I have owned many Marshalls (some at 5x the price of this one) but this sounds as good if not better than any of them. I have never been a fan of the Marshall clean sound but this sounds a bit warmer than usual and I love the clean sound on this little thing. Also the partially open back makes this amp sound huge despite its tiny size.
A massive bonus for me was the FX loop. Never seen an FX loop on a 1 watt amp in my life but have been wanting it for ages. I only play at home and need a low power amp as anything over 1 watt is too loud to crank the volume to get proper valve breakup. This goes down to 0.1 watt which is great for bedroom use. Ive had other Marshalls which go this low but this amp outdoes them all. The EQ is great. You t is shared between both channels but it is a proper EQ. Again I have had other DSL Amos and never liked the high gain sound as it had a fizzy sound that always sat over the main sound (was in a jar) but this does not happen in these new DSLs. They are just brilliant. The only downside, if I can really call it a downside is the built in reverb isnt the best. But as the amp has an FX loop everyone is just going to run a decent reverb in the loop so it really doesnt matter. The built in reverb is better than nothing and will do fine until you get yourself a good pedal. Oh the amp also comes with a foot switch to change between clean and ultra gain channels. The ultra gain channel has loads of gain and even though I probably wont use it that much it sounds awesome. Honestly I cannot believe how good this amp is. If you are after a low wattage amp that does it all, look no further, youve found it.
