What is a B-stock product?

A product becomes B-stock when it can no longer be sold as new. It can simply be a product that has been returned by a customer or it may have packaging that is damaged or missing. It’s possible that the product itself may show slight signs of use or damage too. All B-stock products are fully checked to ensure that they work properly and you can find details of why the product is a B-stock in the information above.

B-stock information

The B-stock tab on the product page shows information about the B-stock product. Be aware that this information supersedes anything you may read in the product description. The product description includes text and specifications about the product in its brand-new state. It’s possible that a B-stock item may be missing accessories mentioned in the text or specifications, for instance, but if so, this will always be mentioned in the B-stock information. B-stock products also include photos of the actual B-stock item so that you can see exactly what it looks like.

B-stock photos

The B-stock photos allow you to see the actual B-stock product you are considering purchasing. The photos show the following::

  • Photo of the brand new product
  • Photo of the B-stock product with packaging (if included) and any accessories
  • Photo showing the front of the B-stock product
  • Photo showing the back of the B-stock product
  • Photo showing any damage to the B-stock product (if applicable)

General

The Source Audio SA264 Encounter is more than just a delay and reverb pedal; it is a versatile tool for exploring atmospheric sounds and deep soundscapes. The pedal has a control interface similar to the popular Collider Delay+Reverb, but offers a wider variety of sounds beyond classic styles. The Encounter contains six delay and six reverb engines that you can use individually or in combination, including dual delay or dual reverb. The pedal has full MIDI functionality and offers both stereo inputs and outputs, as well as various routing options such as series, parallel and split stereo. Each of the footswitches controls its own effect, giving you control over two effects in one pedal.

SA364 Encounter: inspiring effects

With an impressive collection of effects, the Encounter offers a mix of new sounds and modernised classics from the award-winning Ventris Dual Reverb and Nemesis Delay. New effects like the Hypersphere reverb, which evokes the feeling of reverb in a room without walls, the Kaleidoscope delay, a harp-like cascading of sound, and the Shimmers, a double shimmer effect, bring refreshing sound experiences. Existing effects such as Reverse, Lo-Fi, and Swell reverbs, as well as the Helix, Drum Echo, and Resonant delays, have been redesigned and optimised, with extensive parameter settings that take your creative possibilities to new heights.

Source Audio SA264 Encounter Ambient Delay + Reverb

The encounter is an excellent Reverb / Delay effect unit with algorithms that compliment lush ambient soundscape generation.

The sound is exceptional on both engines, and it comes with all the bells and whistles an effect unit could possibly have. MIDI in / out / through, expression, a dedicated app (neuro 3) which not only can decuple the functions and parameters of effect-settings but exchange entire effect types.
The 2 knobs for parametric modulation of each effect type can literally be reprogrammed to add other effects such as distortion / saturation, flange / chorus, bit-crush, and so on, you can even adjust levels and tone parameters of each.
With all these in mind, the encounter becomes a complex machine that can be overwhelming for folks who seek simplicity.

Some incredibly sounding modulated effects can be achieved on the Encounter. From the otherworldly "Helix" delay to the "Lo Fi" reverb mode, this unit invites deep experimentation and this is what makes it an amazing effects module. This is a modern effect powerhouse that excels on unconventional sonic explorations.

The construction of chassis , knobs and switches is of the highest quality. The feel of tweaking effect parameters is the best among any pedal.

However on some algorithms I found the mild increasing / decreasing volume during effect engagement a bit annoying, wondering why Source Audio wouldn't have the algorithm automatically adjusting the volume according to the dry input. This only happens rarely and on some effect types when the second engine is activated on top of the first). Of course with the neuro app, this (or any) issue can be adjusted to preference, however I didn't pay the price of a boutique high-end pedal to rely on an app.

Overall , a great effect unit that truly shines in the studio with its deep modulation.
