As the name suggests, it's a tenor banjo, but there's a secret to it: the resonator is removable. So you transform your closed-back banjo into an open version and back again in no time. That makes the CC-TENOR Cripple Creek Tenor Banjo one of the most versatile banjos on the market.

CC-TENOR Cripple Creek Tenor Banjo versatility

This banjo has a shell, resonator and neck made of maple. This has a somewhat mellow sound character. You need this, because a banjo with resonator can sound very bright because all sound waves are reflected forward. If you remove the back of the instrument, more sound waves will be absorbed by your clothes and so you get a softer, friendlier sound with a reduced volume.
