General

If you want to muffle your bass drum a bit, you could stuff the shell with various items of clothing, but that isn't exactly the most professional way to deal with the situation. The 18-inch Evans EMAD Heavyweight allows for a much more practical and elegant solution. The Heavyweight has a two-ply drumhead for enhanced durability - and that's a good thing, considering the loud genres that this it was designed for. Furthermore, it comes with two damping rings which are easy to place and remove, so that you can adjust the level of damping to suit your preference. This way, the Heavyweight compresses that attack without compromising the drum's dynamic range.
