After two previous versions, there is now the Ultimate version of Billy Sheehan's Signature Drive. Here, according to EBS and the Winery Dogs and Mr Big bassist, overdrive, compression and boost in one compact effect pedal should take care of everything. At first glance, this looks like a pedal with which to add the necessary overdrive to your bass signal, but a closer inspection reveals there is much more to it. On entry, your signal is split: one remains clean, the other is overdriven. Now, should you have a bass with dual inputs, you can use the clean loop for the ultimate blend option. The drive and clean knobs respectively handle the levels of both effects, with the boost switch giving your gain an extra kick, the level knob is for your master volume and the tone knob handles the tone.

But that's not all!

The Ultimate Signature Drive has several more switches on the top that enable a number of more functions. The comp button sets the internal compressor, which you can adjust with two trimpots on the inside, as well as the boost. Furthermore, you have a phase knob with which you can add extra low to your drive signal in some cases. The most exciting and newest gadget of this pedal, is the frequency switch. This lets you shift the entire spectrum in which your tone knob operates either to lower frequencies, or high frequencies. Plus, with both loop connections, you have the option of adding extra effects in those loops. And if the overdrive is not to your taste, you can replace it with an 8-pin dual inline op-amp: without any soldering skills, a totally different pedal in no time!
