The WHE101 Angry Troll by Way Huge is a simple, yet effective booster. As its name suggests, this pedal transforms your clean, neat guitar signal into a mayhem-inducing monster. This angry troll will drive any amp to the brink. Even if your amp has a decent amount of headroom, this stomp box still allows you to distort the signal. It is perfect for cleans with an edge or to boost your distortions to the max. The Way Huge Angry Troll is essentially an extension of your guitar amplifier.
WHE101 Angry Troll: clean boost or distortion?
The two knobs on the Angry Troll respond just like a vintage microphone preamp. The volume control lets you set the output level. You can use it to boost your clean sounds, so your solos are sure to be noticed. Open it up fully, and it'll send an extra loud signal to your amplifier's input for a delectable distortion. The most important feature of the Angry Troll, however, is of course the Anger knob. It is a six-position control with six fists to indicate the level of gain you can add to your guitar's signal. It allows you to go from a subtle crunch to a massive +50dB high-gain distortion!
Practical True-Bypass boost pedal
Like all Way Huge pedals, the WHE101 Angry Troll has a robust aluminium housing. The stomp box is equipped with a relays-based true-bypass circuit that makes sure the original sound of your guitar isn't altered. A practical blue LED indicator shows you if the effect is on. The Way Huge Angry Troll is powered by a single 9-volt battery or the optional Dunlop 9V AC adapter. If the battery produces too little power, the pedal automatically goes to bypass mode. Also, there's a safety on the adapter input that prevents you from connecting a wrong adapter. There's a practical battery lid on the side for quick and easy changing.

Hieronder 3 pedalen die ik puur voor dit doel gebruikt / getest heb met 9v adapter.

+ Zeer goed geluid. Het laag-mid wordt iets voller. Hoog wat afgevlakt (vooral bij een telecaster merkbaar) en het geluid wordt iets compressed.
+ Kan zeer hoge output genereren (is toch overkill).
+ Bouwkwaliteit subliem. Switch geeft het gevoel nooit stuk te kunnen gaan.
+ Geen ruis / sis te horen.
- Niet transparant.

+ Is transparant. Blijft zeer trouw aan het geluid van de gitaar en versterker.
+ Sprankelend geluid.
+ Bouwkwaliteit is prima, is niet te licht.
- Er is een sis / ruis te horen op een amp met overdrive. Op de soul food iets storender.

- Er is een sis / ruis te horen op een amp met overdrive.
- Ruis wordt heviger als de treble wordt opengezet.
De Way huge bezit ik al. De overige 2 heb ik getest. Wat ik wil is het geluid van de mc-401 maar dan zonder de sis, vooral voor mijn Telecaster.
