General

The Latin Percussion LP1427 Americana Groove cajon is a high-quality instrument made in the United States. It's made of Baltic birch, which is specially cultivated on a plantation. Baltic birch is a wood type that beautifully emphasises both highs and lows thanks to its natural resonance. As such, it's known to be somewhat of a natural equalizer. Furthermore, its compact size and shallow profile don't just help keep this cajon as portable as possible, they also help enhance tonal projection! Finally, fixed snare wires behind the frontplate help create that authentic cajon sizzle, and the rounded corners help optimise playing comfort during extended sessions.

A cajon's potential

Cajons are popping up everywhere nowadays; it seems these wooden crates have something that percussionists just can't resist! The instrument originated from the crates that were used to transport food for slaves from Africa to the New World. It was those slaves that created what would eventually become the cajon, by drumming on the empty crates with their hands to make music. After that, the instrument made its way to Peru, where it developed into the cajon we know today. One of this versatile instrument's major advantages is the fact that, nowadays, there are many accessories available for it. With them, you can take you percussion-playing to a whole new level, incorporating new sounds and techniques. There are also plenty of books available on how to play the cajon, so everyone can give it a try!
