In this age of HD tellies, people mostly select reflex cameras on their image quality and forget about audio. The VideoMic Go: Technology

This Rode microphone has a super-cardioid pickup pattern, which means it focuses on audio coming from whatever lies straight in front of the lens. Undesired ambient noise is effectively ignored, the frequency response ranges from 100 to 16,000 Hz and is attuned to prevalent filming situations. As we have come to expect from Rode, the dynamic range is excellent, so you can focus on the object at hand without worrying about overdriven audio.

Construction

For hands-on microphone action, the attenuation of handling noise is vital. The VideoMic Go has an integrated Rycote Lyre shockmount that efficiently dampens vibrations and bumps. An accessory windscreen filters out gusts of wind for maximum transparency and this mic needs no batteries since it's powered by the plug-in power of your reflex camera since you can easily connect it to the microphone output (3.5mm mini-jack). The VideoMic Go requires only a small investment on your part and it will instantly make good on it: its significant contribution to video recordings cannot be underestimated.
