When you think about it, the idea of a partial capo just makes sense. Inspired by the master acoustic guitarist, Harvey Reid, who would regularly hack up a standard Shubb capo to create a three-string barre, the Shubb C7B Partial Capo was first released in 1995 and has been causing a revolution ever since.
The Shubb C7B: Easy Grip
Rather than running out of fingers or needing to re-tune, this neat capo creates a solid barre across the A, D and G or D, G and B strings, leaving the rest to resonate freely, essentially giving you an instant alternative tuning or simply supporting more experimental playing and writing. Like the standard Shubb capos, the Shubb C7B Partial Capo is easy to work with and features adjustable tension to ensure even grip across the strings.

Geweldig bedacht door de Shubbmakers. Met name op de tweede fret op de 5e, 4e en 3e snaar een soort van DADGAD stemming, zonder om te hoeven stemmen en uiteraard speel je dan in E. Natuurlijk is dit zonder om te stemmen geen pure DADGAD stemming, maar het levert genoeg interessante mogelijkheden op. Denk dat er zo wel een aantal nummers gaan ontstaan. Noem het een soort van ontdekkingsreis. Op de tweede fret de 4e, 3e en 2e snaar wordt een 'open A akkoord' gecreëerd - ook hier de speelse mogelijkheid om daar mee te experimenteren. Er zijn vast nog meer variaties te bedenken. Kortom een leuke capo, voor de nodige extra's.

Al jaren speel ik met zo'n capootje. Je kunt er heel speciale composities mee maken gewoon door een beetje uit te proberen. Ik gebruik 'm achter de tweede fret, de vierde en de vijfde en dan zowel op de 2e/3e/4e snaar als op de 3e/4e/5e snaar, dus zes mogelijkheden.

I really like this capo. Im new to alt-tuning. but have been enjoying what it can do for me without having to re-tune the guitar. The placement needs to be more precise than with a regular capo so you don't get buzz from the surrounding strings. but its a lot of fun. I also use it as a fidget toy on my desk. its built really well.

Prima capo om een D-A-D-G-A-D-achtige stemming snel te kunnen spelen zonder tijdrovende en onhandige draaipartijen aan de stemknoppen van je gitaar.
Er gaat in modal-tuning (dat is een stemming tussen majeur en mineur in) een muzikale wereld voor je open. In de avond bij bax besteld en ik had hem nog geen 14 uren later thuis per post. Klasse!
