Cascha HH-2290 Chromatic 12-48 Harmonica

General

A standard harmonica has 10 holes and sits in one key, which works fine until a melody calls for a sharp or a flat and you find yourself stuck. A chromatic model takes that limitation away. This one has 12 holes and 48 tones, so it goes further than the common 10-hole harmonicas, with a range of three octaves from C4 to D7. You notice the difference the moment you want to play something other than blues: folk, jazz, pop or a classical theme are all within reach. The instrument is tuned in C.

Stainless steel, brass and a soft case

A harmonica goes everywhere with you, and that is where plenty of instruments pick up their damage. The stainless steel housing copes with that better, so an evening in a jacket pocket or at the bottom of a bag need not be a disaster. Inside sit high-quality brass reed plates with brass reeds, which give a clear, even tone to build on note after note, while the comb is made of ABS plastic. On the outside is a timeless black finish that also looks good on stage. The black soft case keeps the harmonica protected on the way to rehearsal or a jam session, and the cleaning cloth is there to wipe it down after playing.
