These two harmonica authorities got together and developed two amazing harmonicas according to the wishes of Mr. Thielemans himself; the Hohner Toots Thielemans Mellow Tone and the Toots Thielemans Hard Bopper. The latter is recommended by Toots for more modern work, while the Mellow Tone is suitable for classical pieces and ballads.

Materials

In order to bring out Toots Thieleman's unique style, Hohner thought long and hard about the right materials to use for the Mellow Tone. This chromatic harmonica's comb is made of brown pear wood, which gives it its soft, warm tones, and is optimised for a better response. The plates and reeds are made of nickel and bronze respectively, and the mouthpiece is also nickel. The covers, on the other hand, are made of chrome. This combination of materials and its clever design make the Mellow Tone a perfect representation of Toots' pieces.
