The Yamaha CG122 is a 4/4-sized classical guitar with a solid top and elegant matte finish. This nylon-string acoustic guitar is the most affordable solid top model from Yamaha's popular CG series, and is available with a solid cedar top (CG122MC) or a solid Engelmann spruce top which you see in the CG122MS model here. A solid spruce top is known for producing tight lows, rich mids and sweet trebles, and you'll usually find it on guitars from a more expensive class. Yamaha is really spoiling you with this one!

The solid top of the Yamaha CG122MS ensures better resonance from the body than a laminated top, resulting in a full, sparkling sound with great volume. The solid top also ensures extra sustain, which helps your tones ring out nice and long after they've been struck. As you can see, this guitar produces serious sound for serious beginner guitarists!

General characteristics

For the sides and back of the body of the CG122MS, Yamaha used nato, which is often referred to as eastern mahogany because of its deep, warm sound. The neck is also fashioned from nato and equipped with a smooth 19-fret rosewood fretboard. At 52 mm wide with a scale length of 650 mm, the neck is also easy and supple to play, whether your hands are large or small. Finally, you'll find 6 classical tuners on the headstock, a rosewood bridge, a synthetic bridge saddle, and an attractive rosette around the sound hole.
