General
The LaPaz 002 is an excellent option for beginning guitarists who want to get acquainted with the classical guitar in an inexpensive way. This acoustic guitar features nylon strings. This type of string contributes to a pleasant playing experience, as they feel a lot softer than the steel-stringed variety. Combined with the lime (basswood) body, you can also count on a warm and versatile basic sound, as you would expect from a Spanish guitar. This 4/4-sized version is suitable for children from about 12 years old and adults.
Traditional design with modern additions
LaPaz has chosen a traditional nut width of 51 millimetres. This makes it easier to pick chords without accidentally touching the wrong string. This also makes strumming a lot easier. A notable detail is that the neck is fitted with a neck pin. This benefits stability. Should the neck suffer from changes in temperature or humidity, this is easy to restore. Small details like the white binding and the gold-plated tuning machines with white buttons contribute to a stylish look.

This guitar exceeded all expectactions. Obviously it's built with the cheapest possible materials, and there are numerous minor imperfections in the finish. However it plays well and sounds great. Several points are worth noting:
(1) It has a very thin neck (the thinnest I've seen on a classical guitar) and the action is low. This makes it very easy to play. Most budget guitars I've come across have had chunky necks and very high action.
(2) Intonation is good. This is often a problem with cheap guitars.
(3) There is no fret buzz. Again, cheap guitars usually suffer from this.
(4) Strings are ok. It goes without saying that they're not in the same league as D'Addario or Augustine, but they're significantly better than the budget ones available on eBay.
I can't really comment on the tuning - I've only had this a few days, and with all classical guitars the strings need time to settle. However it doesn't seem go out of tune while playing - it currently only needs re-tuned before each use.
I bought this really just to play one or two specific songs, however I find that I'm playing it a lot more than anticipated. For the price I paid for this, it's an absolute bargain and highly recommended.
