Hiwatt also offers a tube amplifier combo in their Hi Gain series—the HGS50C. It delivers 50 watts of power through two 12-inch speakers . It also features custom FHG12-150 drivers that were made especially for this amp combo to ensure that those clean guitar sounds, like those of the first channel of the Custom DR103 100W amp head, sound as distorted as possible. That's how you know those overdrive guitar sounds originate in the preamp, and not in the speakers.
High Gain HGS50C: unmistakably British
With a 12AT7 and three 12AX7 tubes in the preamp and four EL34 tubes in the power amp, your guitar sound will be as British as it can possibly get. When connecting an extra speaker cabinet that's suitable for this Hiwatt combo, you can switch the impedance between 4, 8 and 16 ohms. With the included foot pedal, you can switch between channels and turn the Accutronics reverb on or off. The Presence potentiometer and the shared 3-band equalizer on the HGS50C make it possible for you to really fine-tune your sound. Finally, you can plug your favourite effects pedals into the mono effects loop.
