Packing double the output power of the 'regular' Studiotone, the 40-Watt-strong Koch Studiotone XL delivers immaculate cleans at even higher volume levels. One of the most versatile amps that money can buy, this tube-driven combo features two channels, a host of tone controls and a small army of inputs and outputs. It even comes complete with a footswitch, but what it's really all about is sound. More specifically, the sound of vintage British valve amps from the 1960s.

The Sonic Options of the Studiotone XL Combo

Besides a pair of classic 12AX7 preamp valves, Koch has installed a four-pack of EL84 power amp valves, guaranteeing warm, round sound from the Clean channel and satisfyingly saturated crunch from the Overdrive channel, which can even be flipped into Overdrive+ mode via a special 3-way switch for even more intense overdrive. The core sound can then be carefully sculpted using the 3-band EQ controls, the 800Hz boost switch and the treble boost/cut switch. Round the back, you'll find a dedicated recording output complete with adjustable microphone position simulation and cab type selection.
