Good things come in small packages! That's the basic principle of Laney's Cub series. This Cub12R a stylish black guitar combo is remarkably compact and lightweight. It's a Class A/B Laney tube amplifier with a maximum capacity of 15 watts. If you want to hear that warm tube sound of the Cub12R in your living room, for instance, use the second input for a maximum power capacity of 1 watt.
Laney Cub12R: balanced and versatile
Contrary to many tube amplifiers with a high capacity, you don't need a lot of volume to play full-sounding guitar riffs and solos. Besides using at home, the Cub12R is great for use at rehearsal, small stages, and jam sessions. Laney has equipped this practical guitar amp combo with a single 12-inch HH speaker for a balanced, yet versatile sound.
Sound, character, and selectable reverb
By adjusting the gain control, you can get a broad array of overdrive that ranges from clean to warm with this Laney combo. With a 3-band equalizer and the output volume, you can fine-tune the sound of the Cub12R to your liking. The timbre is a direct result of the two EL84 tubes in the power amp. The result is that familiar, sparkling British scooped guitar sound. To turn the reverb on or off with ease, you can connect an optional FS1 foot switch to the Cub12R.

De versterker gekocht om mijn champ uit 1972 meer rust te geven en omdat die 5 watt van de champ niet genoeg was voor op het podium. Gedreven door voornamelijk budget en de wens voor een 100% buizen amp kwam ik uit bij de laney. Toen hij binnen kwam direct ingeplugd en ik was blij verrast! Dit is een heel veelzijdig versterkertje!afgelopen zondag voor het eerst in we live situatie gebruikt daar kon hij lekker open. En ook hier weer de verassing hij klinkt echt heel lekker! Hij doet niet onder voor de Koch studio tone waar ik jaren met veel plezier op gespeeld heb. Het enige puntje van kritiek is dat ik de 1watt input niet heel briljant vind. Al je tone lijkt wel weg te vloeien en je mist dan echt je "headroom" maar als je de 15 watt input gebruikt en je houd de levels in de gaten dan voorkom je ook problemen met de buren. Ja dit is een versterker die ik anderen van harte aanbeveel. Een super geluid voor een prikkie!

Wederom een super klinkende buizenversterker van Laney. Ik kan iedere beginnende gitarist dit combo aanraden, vooral vanwege klank, features en ook de portabiliteit. Ik bezit reeds een Laney VC15-110 en een Laney Lionheart L20h en had deze CUB besteld als 'upgrade' voor mijn VC15. Dit bleek ie dan weer niet helemaal waar te maken, de versterkers waren allebei even goed. Ik heb deze versterker dus niet in mijn arsenaal gehouden maar kan deze toch wel zeer zeker aanbevelen!

Snelle levering zoals gewoonlijk. Heb getwijfeld over levering per post, maar de buizenversterker zat goed ingepakt en werkt als een zonnetje. Top.

Heerlijke buizenversterker. Inpluggen en spelen maar! Werkt simpel en klinkt te gek. Ideaal voor thuis met z'n 1 watt ingang en ook prima te gebruiken voor bandrepetities of kleine optredens met de 15 watt ingang. Zit zelfs een FX loop op, een reverb en een uitgang voor een externe speaker. Ziet er ook nog eens prachtig uit en is makkelijk te vervoeren. Wat wil je nog meer voor dit geld?

Un peu déçu je l'avoue.
Le son de cet ampli est très très très quelconque !
Heureusement que l'on voit les lampes à l'arrière, sinon on aurait bien du mal à dire que c'est un ampli lampes, à écouter le son : plat, et sans personnalité aucune.
Le son clean est mat et plat au possible, pas de brillance ni relief, et le crunch est discret : il faut pousser le gain aux 3/4 pour le ressentir. La reverb est de bonne qualité, mais là encore il faut mettre au minimum à la moitié du potar pour commencer à l'entendre ! De plus, pas de sortie casque, pas de sortie line (ce qui n'est pas grand'chose à mettre en place pour un constructeur comme Laney quand même !)
Si c'était à refaire, je prendrais autre chose comme modèle !
