General

Marshall's SV20C Studio Vintage is a 20-watt tube guitar amplifier combo that's based on the highly-desirable and costly 1959 Super Lead Plexi. It gives you the same sounds at a more modest volume, has three ECC83 preamp tubes, two EL34 power amp tubes and is equipped with a 10-inch Celestion V-type speaker. It also has four separate inputs so that you can mix the high treble and normal channels (or loudness 1 and 2) if you wish.

Modern mojo

The mojo of the 1959SLP has been maintained in the SV20C with a 3-band EQ along with controls for presence, the master volume and a standby switch. Incidentally, the standby switch doesn't just turn the amp on and off, it allows you to select 20 watts or just 5 watts, which is great for practice sessions at home. There are five different speaker outputs that allow you to connect this amp to additional cabinets. There's also a DI out so that you can connect it directly to a mixer or a DAW, for instance. Finally, there's an FX loop on board too.

Marshall SV20C Studio Vintage 1959SLP tube guitar amplifier combo, 20 W

Erg blij met mijn Marshall SV20C. Deze versterker levert precies die klassieke Marshall/Plexi-sound waar ik naar op zoek was: dynamisch, open en met veel karakter. Hij reageert ontzettend goed op je aanslag en op de volumeknop van de gitaar, van mooie cleans tot een heerlijke rauwe rockcrunch.

Ook op 5 watt klinkt hij al overtuigend, terwijl de 20-watt stand meer dan genoeg vermogen heeft voor repetities en optredens. De bouwkwaliteit voelt degelijk en ondanks het compacte formaat klinkt de versterker verrassend groot.
