General
With its 20W power and 8-inch speaker, the Cube-20GX is the smallest model of Roland's 2013 Cube GX series, but certainly not the least. The Cube-20GX is a compact yet versatile guitar amplifier combo that combines Roland's high-grade COSM modelling technology with iOS connectivity. It is equipped with three switchable channels, three independent effect sections, a global 3-band EQ and master volume control. Thanks to the new i-Cube Link, you can connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, allowing you to play music and to record your guitar playing by means of the free Cube Jam app.
Roland Cube-20GX: a wide range of sounds
The Roland Cube-20GX is equipped with three channels: JC Clean, Lead and Solo. JC Clean is based on the crystal clear, clean sound of the renowned Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus. The Lead channel offers you six diverse tones: acoustic sim, overdrive, distortion, metal, metal stack and extreme. They enable you to create any imaginable guitar sound. The Solo channel allows you to program separate sounds of the JC Clean or Lead channel, including EQ and effects. You can switch between channels by means of the controls on the front panel, or via the optional BOSS FS-5U pr FS-6 foot switches.
First-rate effects and built-in tuner
The effects section of the Cube-20GX consists of EFX, Delay and Reverb controls. The EFX controller offers you five high-grade modulation effects: chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo and heavy octave. They can be controlled by means of a single knob that is subdivided into five different ranges. Additionally, you can select either a warm or a clear delay, and a spring or a plate reverb. To keep your guitar in tune at all times, the Roland Cube-20GX is equipped with a built-in chromatic tuner. The back of the Cube is fitted with a Record Out/headphone output for recordings and silent practice sessions.
i-Cube Link and Cube Jam app
A new feature for the Cube series is Roland's i-Cube Link connector, which also serves as an AUX input so you can play along with your favourite music or backing tracks. This mini jack connector allows you to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch by means of the accessory interface cable. As such, it is possible to use your favourite music or recording apps. The free Cube Jam app offers everything you need to jam, to record and to develop your skills. Play along with songs, filter out the solo track, lower the tempo without changing the pitch or record your jams with one simple push of a button. Additionally, you can mix your recording and export the result to a 16-bit, 44.1kHz WAV file.
