The WS-CR215S is an excellent cornet to learn to play and suitable for all ages. It is an entry-level Bb cornet, but make no mistake; all the features you need are there. The instrument comes complete with mouthpiece and soft case.
Novice wind players will be able to play this cornet for years to come. The instrument has a thumb saddle on the first pump as well as a finger ring on the third pump so that you can fine-tune certain notes that naturally sound a little too high on any cornet or trumpet. On the tuning tube you will find a water valve with cork that allows you to let the built-up condensation out of the instrument. With a 125 mm bell and an 11.5 mm bore, this cornet is excellent for beginners. A relatively small bore like this makes it easier for the true beginner to be able to produce a stable tone. The cornet has a so-called 'Shepherd's Crook'; this refers to the way the tube runs from the valve body towards the bell. Cornets with a 'Shepherd's Crook' are common in English Brass Bands.
Stagg supplies the instrument complete with mouthpiece and soft case, so all you really need to arrange is a registration with the music school or association to develop your skills. Later, when you have built up a few years of experience, you may want to switch to a more expensive model with a larger bore, for example.
