The Byzance series offers cymbals of all shapes and sizes. The hand-crafted nature of the professional Byzance cymbals is an important contributing factor when it comes to their sound and playing feel. All Byzance cymbals are made of B20 bronze, which produces a very consistent tone and ensures excellent durability. The B18EDTC is an Extra Dry Thin Crash with a raw finish that clearly shows off the extensive hammering that is part of the creation of this cymbal.
Meinl Byzance B18EDTC
Optically, the finish gives this cymbal a very weathered look, while its sound is very dark and has trashy overtones. The shimmering sound that many crashes produce has been pushed to the background, resulting in a dry, almost shrouded sound. Furthermore, the Extra Dry Thin Crash has a relatively soft response with a quick decay, which makes it an excellent choice for use as a second crash or accent cymbal in your kit.
