The entire mixing engine has been comprehensively updated so that automating, routing and metering all run more smoothly. Another important improvement is the render in-place function, which enables you to bounce audio and MIDI tracks, including effects, to a new audio track. That way, you'll never overtax your CPU, even with complex FX or MIDI setups. The new 'MIDI tempo detection' function allows you to play along with and adjust the tempo of a MIDI track, and Cubase Artist 8 EE will follow.
