With this license you can use the most recent version of Pro Tools for a whole year. After a year the license expires on its own. If you'd like to extend it, then you can simply purchase this product again! The advantage is that you're not tied down to the license like you would be with the perpetual license. It's the perfect, affordable solution for working through a short term project! During the year, you'll have access to any and all updates and upgrades, along with support. As such, you'll always be working with the newest software version, and an Avid expert will always on hand to answer all of your Pro Tools questions.
