Cubase is one of the most long-standing and legendary DAWs you can get. In fact, Steinberg has just released the fourteenth iteration. This is Steinberg Cubase Elements 14, and while it's technically the entry-level edition, you're still getting a full suite of audio editing and production tools, including a score editor based on Steinberg Dorico, which is the go-to for many composers. Besides a bunch of small bug fixes, this new version features a smooth workflow and, while it's not as extensive as the Artist or Pro edition, might well be all that a lot of singer-songwriters and fresh-faced music-makers need.
