The Marine Band harmonica is one of the most famous diatonic harmonicas ever and has been used by world-famous artists. So this deluxe version is an even better version of the original Marine Band. Indeed, since producing the first design in 1896, Hohner has gained a lot of experience and the market has seen many developments. Some of these new techniques and materials Hohner has used for the Deluxe to increase quality and playing comfort. The German specialist has managed to retain the classic blues sound though!

Improvements over the Marine Band

The original Marine Band was made more than 120 years ago, so it was in need of renewal. Almost all parts of the harmonica were put back on the design table and improved where necessary. For instance, the reeds have a different profile for higher durability and are attached in a different way, so they don't rattle when played a lot. Furthermore, the comb and covers have also been improved in design, contributing more to the volume and timbre. The way the parts are put together is also different on the Deluxe. Indeed, three tuning plate screws and four cover screws together ensure maximum air tightness, making the sound fuller than that of 1896 variant. To preserve the warm, authentic sound of the Marine Band, the mouthpiece is still made of pearwood. The 10 holes in this mouthpiece are rounded for greater playing comfort. This model is tuned in Ab major, a tuning mainly used for playing in key Eb. To protect your harmonica, a storage case is automatically included.
